این دانشگاه اولین دانشگاه اسکاتلند و سومین دانشگاه قدیمی در بین دانشگاههای کشورهای انگلیسی زبان می باشد که در سال 1413 یعنی نزدیک به 600 سال قبل تاسیس شده است
این دانشگاه 3 کالج بسیار قدیمی دارد

این دانشگاه در سال 2009 در مجموع در رتبه ی هفتم دانشگاههای بریتانیا قرار داشت و پیش بینی می شود در سال 2010 نیز در این رنکینگ هفتم شود

Lean Team

Who's in the Lean Team
The Lean Team involves potentially... everyone! The aim of Lean is to involve all members of staff across the University in continually improving their own processes.

So far over 200 staff have been involved in at least one Lean event, from areas that include: Human Resources, Finance, Residential and Business Services, Admissions, Estates, Registy, Student Support Services, Business Improvements, the Library, the Principal's Office, the Sports Centre, the Schools of Biology, Psychology, Philosophical Anthropological & Film Studies, Physics and Astronomy, and Computer Science.

Many more staff have participated in Lean Awareness training, and have been involved in the process of redesigning and implementing projects coming from Lean.

Lauren has been part of the Registry team since October 2007, and is part of the Lean Team on secondment between 2 November 2009 and 13 March 2010.

Having been instrumental to several process reviews, for example with ID Cards, Lauren moves to join the team to ensure the Lean team is as effective as possible.

Lauren lives in Fife, spends her time hanging out with friends, going on fabulous holidays, watching 1980s chick-flicks, and ensuring her awareness of celebrity gossip is top notch.

Reflecting on Lean, Mark notes: 'I am always amazed by the committed, enthusiastic staff we have here, who are willing to change the way they do their jobs, and who are excited by the prospect of contributing to the University's success'

Prior to Lean he was St Andrews' Information Management Co-ordinator, and held a number of management roles in the New Zealand public sector.

Originally from New Zealand, Mark lives with his wife and two beautiful young daughters in Crail. He's a fan of Single Malt Whisky and Genealogy.

About Lean, Steve comments: 'Making people's working lives better motivates me. We're seeing real transformational change, with staff releasing lots of their time to do more value-adding work, and feeling great about it.'

Before Lean, Steve worked managing a team of Peer Supporters, providing assistance on a wide range of personal difficulties. He also currently works teaching Communication Skills in St Andrews' Medical School.

Living between Dairise and Edinburgh Steve spends his time cooking for friends, picnicking in parks, and volunteering for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
